All ages are welcome at Hensting Alpacas.

• Babies & toddlers (under 3): FREE with parent ticket. Must be in a secure baby carrier/sling — no pushchairs permitted. Must be declared during booking.
• Children aged 3–12: Require a paid ticket. A dedicated adult MUST walk alongside holding a second lead on the same alpaca. This is a safety requirement, not optional.
• Children aged 12–16: May lead their own alpaca with a parent/guardian present.
• Ages 16+: Walk independently.

Age Policy (Updated 2025)

All ages are welcome at Hensting Alpacas!

Babies & Toddlers (Under 3):
- Included with parent ticket (no separate ticket needed)
- Must be carried in a secure baby carrier/sling (no pushchairs/prams allowed)
- Must be declared during booking for safety documentation

Children Aged 3–12:
- Require a paid ticket
- A dedicated adult MUST walk alongside holding a second lead on the same alpaca
- This ensures safety if the alpaca should startle
- Parents accept full responsibility for their child's safety and behaviour
- Additional safety waiver required on arrival (identifying wristbands provided)

Children Aged 12–16:
- May lead their own alpaca but must be accompanied by an adult
- Signed parental consent required

Ages 16+:
- May walk independently

Walking Requirement: All participants must be able to walk 1 mile on uneven terrain OR be carried safely in a baby carrier/sling (no pushchairs)

Punctuality: Gates close at exact start times

No Dogs: Alpacas are sensitive to dogs

Valid Ticket Required: No entry without booking

What to Bring & Wear

Footwear: Suitable outdoor shoes (terrain may be muddy). Wellies available to hire.

Clothing: Weather-appropriate outdoor clothing

Camera: Capture amazing memories!

Supervision Requirements (Ages 3–12)

• Children aged 3–12 CANNOT lead alpacas independently

• A dedicated adult MUST walk alongside holding a second lead on the same alpaca

• This is required in case the alpaca startles — two leads provide essential control

• One dedicated adult per child aged 3–12 is mandatory

Parent/Guardian Responsibilities

• You accept FULL responsibility for your child's safety and behaviour

• Alpacas are animals with unpredictable behaviour — risks are inherent

• You must complete an additional safety waiver upon arrival

• Children will receive identifying wristbands for safety tracking

• Staff may require immediate removal if safety concerns arise

No Pushchairs or Prams

• Pushchairs/prams/strollers are strictly prohibited on walks

• They can startle and distress the alpacas

• Use baby carriers/slings only for infants and toddlers

Ticketing for Babies/Toddlers

• Babies and toddlers do NOT need a separate ticket for regular walks

• They are included with the parent's ticket at no extra cost

• You MUST declare them during booking for insurance and safety purposes

We walk in most weather conditions including light rain. Only severe weather (lightning, extreme wind, flooding) will cancel a walk. If we cancel, we will contact you at least 2 hours before your booking to arrange a rebook.

Add our £4.50 rescheduling insurance at booking to change your date up to 2 hours before your walk for any reason. Without insurance, bookings cannot be rescheduled.
